What You Can Do When You're Ready to Reclaim Your Life
May 18, 2025
It’s easy to take a turn and not realize where it’s leading until you’re already deep into it.
Maybe it started with a desire to feel seen.
To reclaim control.
To find peace.
To experience power in a world that’s made you feel powerless.
And before you know it, the choice that felt right—or at least necessary—leads you somewhere you never intended to go.
That’s how misalignment works. It often disguises itself as healing, empowerment, or relief. But if it isn’t rooted in truth, it eventually reveals its cost.
You Can’t Heal What You’re Afraid to Admit
Here’s a truth that many avoid: healing requires honesty. Not just with others—but with yourself.
And that kind of honesty can feel terrifying.
Admitting, “I chose something that hurt me,” or “This isn’t the life I wanted,” takes courage. It confronts shame, loss, and even identity. But until something is brought into the light, it can’t be transformed.
Neuroscience supports this. Studies in emotional processing—particularly from the work of Dr. Daniel Siegel and Dr. Brené Brown—show that the brain cannot fully regulate or integrate painful emotions unless they are first named and acknowledged. Denial, avoidance, or suppression may offer short-term relief, but long-term? They fuel anxiety, disconnection, and even physical illness.
Psychologist Carl Jung said, “Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”
When we’re afraid to face something, we stay stuck in cycles of confusion. We rationalize harmful choices. We replay unhealthy patterns. And the healing we crave remains just out of reach—not because it isn’t possible, but because we haven’t named the wound.
Truth isn’t what wounds you. Fear of the truth does.
What You Can Do When You're Ready to Reclaim Your Life
1. Acknowledge Without Shame
It’s okay to say, “This isn’t what I thought it would be.” You can honor the part of you that was searching, even if the path wasn’t right. You were doing your best with what you knew. And now? You know more.
2. Invite Support In
Trying to untangle confusion and pain on your own will only keep you isolated. Healing happens in relationship. Let others walk with you. Choose mentors, friends, counselors, or communities that speak life and truth.
3. Turn With Courage, Not Perfection
You don’t need a perfect plan. You need a willing heart. One that’s ready to be led by truth instead of fear. That shift alone can open the door for God to step in and start writing something new.
Jasmine’s Story: From Witchcraft to Redemption
That’s exactly what Jasmine Hawkins shares in this week’s two-part episode of It’s Your Story to Tell.
In Part 1, Jasmine opens up about her former life steeped in witchcraft—a path she pursued not to cause harm, but out of a desperate longing to feel secure, powerful, and seen. But instead of clarity and freedom, she found confusion, spiritual unrest, and physical suffering.
Her story is raw and honest.
It reminds us how easy it is to be misled when you're hurting.
And it also shows the incredible grace of a God who meets us right there—not with shame, but with an invitation to come home.
In Part 2, Jasmine shares how leaving that world didn’t just bring healing—it revealed her purpose.
Now a bold faith leader, author, and founder of multiple faith-driven organizations, she’s using her story to lift others out of shame and into the light. She talks about the importance of family support, honest conversations with God, and how redemption always has a ripple effect.
